Coastal Management Information System (CMIS)-PHASE-II
Introduction
The Maharashtra Maritime Board (MMB), Home Department (Ports and
Transport), Government of Maharashtra, Mumbai is executing a multi tranche
project on Sustainable Costal Protection and Management with loan assistance
from the Asian Development Bank. The project has strategic aims and
immediately targeting for implementing shoreline protection and management
sub-projects. The strategic aim includes developing a more coherent,
progressive shoreline management planning to achieve sustainable
development. And realizing this, the MMB has approached/ requested
Maharashtra Remote Sensing application Centre (MRSAC), an autonomous
body of Planning Department, Government of Maharashtra to help MMB for
implantation of CMIS. MRSAC has expertise in RS/GIS activities in Maharashtra
has been serving geo-spatial data through MRSAC Maharashtra Geo-portal.
Objectives
Development of Web-based information system comprising GIS (Spatial) and
Non-GIS (Non-Spatial) components with main features as,
• Development of assets mapping mobile app.
• Assets mapping from field using mobile app tool.
• Maintenance of Geoportal-PHASE-I for one year.
• Geospatial data (Assets) uploading on Geoportal
Data Used
The database collection/creation will be the joint programme of both MRSAC &
MMB, also the base layers available with MRSAC will be act as input data.
Methodology
The methodology involved assets mapping from the field through smart mobile
phone with development of assets mapping tool. The database will have
geospatial information which will be uploaded on previously developed Geoportal
in PHASE-I.
