crops for acreage estimation. Image processing will be carried out tile-wise, exploring new

techniques for crop discrimination.

Sugarcane study districts (15 districts): Based on the statistics of Department of
Agriculture, total 15 districts having greater than 10,000 ha area under sugarcane have

been selected for the study. They are viz. Pune, Satara, Solapur, Osmanabad, Latur,

Sangli, Kolhapur, Nashik, Jalgaon, Aurangabad, Jalna, Ahmednagar, Beed, Parbhani
and Nanded together contributing 93 % state sugarcane area.Cotton study districts (14

districts): Based on the statistics of Department of Agriculture, total 14 districts having
greater than 50,000 ha area under cotton have been selected for the study. They are viz,

Jalgaon, Yavatmal, Aurangabad, Jalna, Nanded,Buldana, Beed, Parbhani, Amravati,
Akola, Dhule, Wardha, Hingoli and Washim contributing 90.8 % of state cotton growing

area.

Sorghum study districts: Predominant districts Ahmednagar, Aurangabad, Beed,

Jalna, Osmanabad, Parbhani, Pune, Sangli, Satara, Solapur, were selected for Rabi
sorghum estimation.

Execution / Implementation:

• Ground truth information collection by Scientist of MRSAC /SAC
• Digital analysis will be carried out at MNCFC, New Delhi & SAC, Ahmedabad.

• District and State wise acreage estimation will be provided to Ministry of

Agriculture, Govt. of India.

Completion Status: Ongoing

• Activities for Sugarcane, Cotton & Rabi Sorghum are completed for 2018-19.
