Municipal GIS database creation on large scale using high resolution satellite data (HRSD) for Maharashtra State: Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA)

In Maharashtra, Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) monitors the performance of Urban Local Bodies and provides necessary guidelines for effective functioning of the local bodies. Currently, 26 Municipal Corporations and 356 Municipals Councils (including Nagar Panchayats) are spread across the entire state.

With the advent of the Remote Sensing and GIS technologies and its effectiveness for efficient management of the city/town resources an Integrated approach of designing, development and establishment of Geo-spatial technology based activities through mapping of various land use, land properties, asset properties, transport and utilities, and linking these spatial entities with the ERP/SAP/Property-Tax  system is envisaged.
