Preparation of Existing Land Use Map for Parbhani City Municipal Corporation (PCMC)

Introduction

The Parbhani City Municipal Corporation (PCMC) is D-grade Municipal Corporation in the Marathwada region of Maharashtra.

         With recent development in urban sector in Remote Sensing and GIS fields, Collectorate of Parbhani has proposed to implement complete GIS solution for comprehensive planning of Government Lands within the Parbhani City Municipal Corporation limits. For this, the Collectorate of Parbhani intends to prepare Existing Land Use map with latest High-Resolution Satellite data (Year-2017) to identify the Existing Land Use (ELU) and encroachments in the Government, Inami and Municipal Corporation Lands. This will help the Collectorate of Parbhani, City Municipal Corporation and, decision makers to provide accurate information to general public for the areas under its jurisdiction.

         The study is aimed at generating a geo-spatial data of detailed Existing Land Use (ELU) data showing all the details of existing structures on the sites and other site features duly superimposed on Land Records Department- cadastral data and City Survey Department- City Survey No. data for Parbhani City Municipal Corporation (PCMC).

        Under this project, COLLECTORATE OF PARBHANI intends to generate the geo-spatial data which would be helpful for the stakeholders’ planners and designers in decision making. Realizing this, Collectorate of Parbhani has approached and requested Maharashtra Remote Sensing Application Centre (MRSAC) Nagpur, an autonomous body under Planning Department, Government of Maharashtra, to generate the Remote Sensing and GIS database for the agency.
